When my cosplay group, Fighting Dreamers, was thinking about doing a Naruto Shippuuden cosplay Shikamaru was my first choice - honestly, this wonderful serious boy doesn't get enough love.

Costume was fairly simple to pull together as I have the chuunin vest already for Iruka, so what was left were the black pants (with pockets, very important!) and the black shirt. As it happens, I could pretty much use the patterns for Iruka's outfit for this too, so there was minimum amount of preparation - the main difference between the costumes is that Shikamaru has his headband on his sleeve, has slightly shorter sleeves and fishnet sleeves and socks.

I bought a small headband and sewed in on to the sleeve, and made the fishnet sleeves and attached them to the shirt, wore the socks just as socks. I made the sandals (again!) since the commercially available ones are too big for me.
