John Howe's Galadriel

The Lord of the Rings

Last Updated: 07-20-2008

Dress is based on the illustration John Howe did for The 1991 Tolkien Calendar (HarperCollins Publishers).

Done for Cosfest 2003 and worn again several other times.

Dress is made using Lavender Polyester Silk Satin, Double Georgette (Sleeves), Indian Brocade Gold Ribbon Trim (Collar & Sleeves), Lavender Scallops Piping Trim and plain Gold Ribbon (Skirt Trim).

This dress was done in the days when I didn't know fully the important of Linings so the dress was unlined. Hate that fact after the first wearing so planned to either get it fully lined somehow or get Ver. 2.0 done.

Also unhappy with the Collar Shape (V-Collar; inspired by Eowyn's White Wool Gown) which according to the LOTR Movies Design Scheme should have Boat-Shape Collar and lack of train in the back. So that may add on to the reason why I should get the Ver. 2.0 done.

Somehow, looking at the illustration, I feel that the dress will look better too with a light Bustle-CanCan Skirt so might do that too for this dress in the future.
