REMAKING. Yes, and perhaps completely @_@ Still feel free to read all these details below if you wish.
:O Gravey. This costume was more work than I suspected it would be. Because so many people asked, here's a little info on how I made the wings.
* The wings were made with 14 gauge wire from Home Depot. I first drew and cut out a 1/2" foam board frame and then used it as a pattern to bend the wings around in order to get the right shape.
* The "3D" look to the wings came from making 3 wire veins inside the main wing frame and making sure the fabric for the membrane of the wings was extra tight around the width of the frame.
* I used a sheer drapery fabric for the wings body. I sandwiched the wire between two layers, pinned like crazy and then used hot glue to secure the fabric.
* All the wings were spray painted. I made a stencil to get the black on the wings to look uniform.
* I really don't like how the wings turned out and I'm completely remaking them D:! My doggie tore one up the night before the con and I had issues with another - so off I am to work harder on another pair.
Extra Stuffs:
* Nuu I didn't use a pattern because I'm seriously not smart enough xD
* The main body fabric was $2 yrd at Walmart. I love Walmart.
* I added another packet of weft hair to the wig before wearing it to AnimeUSA. Before Animazement 2008, I will add another packet (or more) to give the wig a more "Full" look.
* The shoes are covered in a poy-mix stretch. I added traction stickers to the bottom, over the covers, to help keep me from slipping around.
*The wings were VERY light and thus I was able to secure them to myself with clear string. I'm making a harness before Animazement.
*I am also still working on the Crossbow which is being made completely of craft foam and poster board. The wood grain is hand painted.
