Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Status: 80% finished | Debuted: October 2007

Description

Dress:
The dress is made of night blue velveteen. It has a waist seam and a false opening in front with eleven golden bottons. I’ve found identical buttons than the original ones at a flea market. The original gown has twelve buttons at the front opening. But I’m not as tall as Liv Tyler, so we took eleven buttons instead to keep the proportions right. The funnel sleeves are lined with anthracite taffeta. The V-shaped insert at the neckline and the girdle are made of a red satin.
We took a red metallic jacquard trim as trim for the elbow and the neckline. A little gold trim with loops was added on both sides to imitate the bullion loops of the original dress. I didn’t manage to embroider the trim in time for RingCon 2007. I’m satisfied with the appearance of the dress, so I’m not sure if I put more effort in the dress than to improve the fit.

Crown and veil:
The veil is made of anthracite crepe chiffon. The gorgeous crown is made by a dear friend of mine. Thanks a thousand times for this!
