Silver_Ruby and some others decided to do an impromptu Naruto gathering at Balboa park last weekend. It just so happened that my friend lent me his Japanese Wii console and I was playing the Naruto Shippuden EX fighting game and Tenten's moves were just TOO COOL that I HAD to make the costume LOL. Costume was made in one night, about 10~12 hours of consecutive work (I got 2.5 hrs of sleep harhar)

I loooved making this outfit, a good thing was it was very similar to her old Genin outfit with the addition of sleeves and gloves and hakama-like holes in the sides of the pants so it was pretty easy to make. I used the reverse side of a satiny/silk-like fabric so the shiny, soft side was lining the inside of the shirt and the white, non-shiny side was on the outside. I pretty much doubled up all the layers so the shirt was nice and warm. For the red fabric of the pants and shirt borders I just used a plain cotton fabric.

The Chinese "knots" were made by double-knotting both ends of those tassel-like cords and then sewing it together with gold metallic thread. When translating the anime outfit into a real costume, I interpreted the shirt fastenings as actual chinese knots instead of simple rectangular strips of cloth; for me it just looks better that way. For the "Bandages" showing on the side I actually tore strips of cloth and wove them into the criss-cross pattern you see on Tenten's thighs, but they didn't show up too well in the photos.

Shoes were bought at Wal-mart for $5 :D Fabric altogether cost about $30.

In the Wii game, Tenten's forehead protector is red, but in the anime it's still blue, so I just went with blue to be more accurate. I still need to make the hugeass scroll of weapon summoning she has, and maybe the backpack too if I feel up to it :3
