This is officially version 1.0.
I finished this in a very short amount of time.
For the top, I took a tank top and made a pattern from it, making the front pieces slightly larger. I used a navy blue stretchy sportswear fabric, and I added darts to help fit the top to my body more. Then I made white tubing out of a general white cotton and gathered it with very creative pinning. I handsewed the tubing on, to ensure it stayed gathered correctly. I had very little time (and fabric) left, so I took whatever fabric I had leftover and made it into the sideskirt. That will be the first thing to go on the version 1.5. Mhmmm. The blue arm things are made of a metallic blue fabric (which I have forgotten the name of). Its not satin...i don't think. and not silk. It's fairly stiff. I used fray check to make sure they didn't fray, and that way the fabric looked more natural because I didn't hem it either. I also will be '76ing the arm wraps, because I need to use some sort of elastic. The X's kept on falling down because i used a more ribbon type of string. The hair wraps (NOT EARRINGS...THEY'RE NOT EARRINGS!!!) are hair extensions that I got to match my natural hair color, and I braided them each into 6 tiny braids. I then sorted beads for a number of hours and strung them in random fashion using white, ivory, pink, yellow, and orange beads. They turned out rather nicely and are awfully comfortable for clip-in extensions. For the skirt I bought an old 80's dress off of ebay that had a beautiful lace pattern. I cut it, hemmed the top and put in room for elastic, and threaded elastic into the top. In my opinion, it worked a lot better than pleats and it looks a lot more natural for lace. I used old spandex shorts from volleyball underneath, and I borrowed a friend's belt (Thanks Crystalike!). So for the next version I will have a belt, new arm wraps, and a new sideskirt. Mhmm! ^_^ b
