This costume is about 2 years in the making. Though it's still got a tiny bit of work left till I'm completely satisfied, I'd say it looks great. It is made of high impact ABS plastic that was made through vac-u-forming. All-together there are about 16 peices that had to be made for the armor alone. Along with the custom painted armor, there is a custom painted, and modified steel helmet. The earpiece with the microphone had to be constructed from scratch using a mold of the earpiece from the film. While there is still a bit of work to do on this thing, as it stands, it's 90% done. I added an actual "cateye" helmet band used by todays military in training exercises for appearance.
One of the great things about this costume is the customization and accessories you can add. I currently have a hand-held welder, MA41 Pulse Rifle, Colt 1911 sidearm, belt tool (made from a german pop-gun), gasmask (with pouch), Modified binoculars, a custom-made sniper rifle, and a rear-mounted shoulder lamp.
Then there is the graffiti. This is what makes the Colonial Marine costume so much fun. You can add your own little quirks. I have the Punisher skull on the helmet along with Mandalorian skull near the back in red. On the body armor I have the name "Ryleigh" (my neice), a biohazard symbol, a weather hazard symbol (on the back), along with an arrow pointing down with upside down letters reading "this end up", and in the center of the back, it says "harmful if swallowed". I opted to add a little joke to the codpiece. Yes it's stolen from a t-shirt. It says "Got me? I'll do your body good!" I recently recieved custom made BDU's for this costume as well. They are the closest to screen accurate as you can get and look amazing with costume. Add some blood, dirt make-up, and a mean scowl and the costume is complete.
