Aragorn has been a difficult costume to make. I'm 5'9" , blond, and weighed about 210lbs when I started, but it didn't really stop me. I'm down to 173lbs now and actually can somewhat look the part. Origninally the outfit was clean and nice. The cloak looked all wrong and and boots were horrible. I had a pair of brown boots with crappy covers to make them look longer. The sword was a cheap $50 knock-off that jiggled a lot. The belt was two belts put together. Then there was the wig...it looked atrocious. Since dragoncon, I've gotten a new wig, cut it to look almost exactly like Viggo's hair, Dyed my own hair, lost the weight, gotten new boots, a new glove, the United Cutlery Ranger Sword and scabbard, weathered the shirt, jerkin, and boots, made a new cloak, picked up the elven brooch, gotten better bracers, picked up the ring of Bara-hir, gotten a really nice evenstar, learned make-up techniques for the beard, and constructed a new belt to hold the scabbard.
This costume won 2nd place in the JJC Halloween Costume Contest. It was worn by my legolas-looking friend, Justin.
