Description
We'll I've officially started on my Epic Quest To make my pirate outfit. I get to go in about two and a half weeks to pick up most of my fabric. Since this is a persona costume, a costume I'm probably gonna get at least a half-decade of wear out of (My Renaissance faire character) I'm using the really high quality and expensive stuff. I'm talking thick, beautiful brocades, authentic Chinese silk, fine-woven velvets, real, hand dyed 10 ounce+ leather, and the most gorgeous buttons/lace/beads you've ever laid eyes on. It's gonna cost me an arm and a leg, but it'll be well worth the financial pain.
This costume is just going to be covered in details. The hat along (the only thing I'll disclose at this point) Sounds something like this.
"The Tricorn hat is a hand molded black hat. The upturned edges will be lined with thin black and gold braiding. On the visible sides, gold lace will be sewn on below the braiding, with small detailed black beading accenting it. Wherever there is black, black space, very detailed black cording will be swirled. From a distance, this will appear as just plain solid black, but up close it'll be an intricate network of swirls. Atop the hat will be a brooch, and larger gold-ish yellow plumes dyed black at the tips intermixed with smaller black feathers."
And that's just the hat. I'm buying a full leather hide and molding/dyeing it myself. Yes, the fumes will probably shorten my lifespan by a few years, but it'll be worth it.
