Description
So this is my first, and only so far pretty pink frilly shoujo costume - and i kind of LIKED it. (How much of a goth-girl tomboy am I, when Utena is my 'girly side.') This was made in a large group of friends to be a big Utena group at Katsucon, and we had a crazy blast.
Construction - The jacket is a black cotton sateen, which was just too pretty to pass up, it's so crisp! The skirt is a plain pleated cotton skirt with the split in the front, it's separate from the coat and shorts. The shorts are a red dancewear I had in the bin - but OH MAN, they are GLITTER on the inside. That's our little secret, shh.
The epaulettes are hard plastic x-mas ornaments and vinyl plumbing tubing, the fabric parts were rolled, and all the little details were paperclay or styrene. Shoes were from wal-mart, I altered the tongue so that it would be on the outside, and painted them and made bows.
The Sword of Dios was my first big prop project, made from a dowel, styrene, paperclay and caulk. Due to an accident, we learned the hard way that rubbing alcohol dissolves silicon caulk, so i'll probably remake this thing at some point.
