Instantly was interested when I saw a picture of the cover of the DVD. I liked the look of the character and decided to find out more. I watched it and loved it. Straight away I knew I wanted to Cosplay as Abel Nightroad.
The Cassock
Made from a pattern that I designed. I lined the top halve of the costume. Its is made from lightweight black cotton suiting with white cotton bias on the edges. Originally I used hocks and eyes for the fastening but changed to a zip as the hocks kept undoing.
The Capelett
Made from a small cape pattern. I modified the collar. Made from the same fabric and bias as the cassock. Its attached to the cassock with snap fastenings.
The belts, are shop brought and then modified.
The gloves, footwear, hair ribbon, leggings are all shop brought.
The bling/armour
Is all hand made. I made it using fibre glass. It was then sanded and painted with acrylic. Then sealed with spray varnish. I have made a second set as the first set cracked. The second set was made from Cintra/Foamlux PVC Sheeting. This was cut with a multi-tool and then shaped using a heat gun. Painted and sealed with acrylic paints and varnish.
The hair and glasses are my own.
I enjoyed this costume as it was comfortable to wear. I have now worn it a few times. It took about two weeks to build and cost about £30 GBP
His first wear was at Collectormaina Manchester 4. He got a good reception. I did have a few requests for the Crusnik version. Which I might do. I'm also looking into doing the manga version.
