Adiane is a character from Gurren Lagann that I love for many reasons. She's a bad guy of the violent-and-crazy type who's also HOT and abusive to her underlings and I really just love her, okay.

I've never really sewn before this costume- a friend helped me make the muslin, and also was basically the one who did the design & construction of the waist cincher. All I did on that piece was grommet. She also cut the eyepatch; all I did was cut the straps for it and glue it together.

The kimono-thing I sewed myself from our cut-up muslin (the kimono pattern had to be chopped into her style). It had no collar, so I had to BS one on. It's got fiberfill in it so that it sort of stands up a bit better than it would were it just flat fabric.

The appliqués weren't done entirely properly so they hang off at spots. I meant to reinforce it, but didn't like how the stitches were looking. If I wear this at another con, I'll probably fix that.

The wig was my first styling job ever.


This version of the costume is retired; a less shitty version will be up for AB10.
