I decided to use a cotton velveteen because the official Super Dollfie version of Shinku has a velvet dress. I learned a lot about sewing velvet with my mistakes here. The dress is an A-line cut with princess seams and extra fullness to the skirt, which ends in a handruffled trim. The cape does also. I couldn't find affordable black lace that I liked, so took white lace and dyed it black. I was surprised how well that turned out! A petticoat is worn under the skirt to keep it poofy. Extra long white cotton bloomers and white tights are also worn underneath. The shoes are a pair of Demonia shoes; I removed the black bows and attached silk roses to them. The bonnet is a flat, rounded shape with a ruffle on either side and black satin tie running across the middle. It snaps under my chin and is topped with a faux bow made out of the black satin and a silk rose. The wig was a big project. It began as an Amphigory Innocent, a pre-pigtailed wig. I straightened the pigtails and attached extra blonde extensions to get the proper length for the tails. To create the curl, I soaked the fiber in Got2BGlued hair glue and wrapped it around paper towel rolls. A similar method made the smaller curls in front as well, but with a styrofoam cone.
