Pink schoolgirl outfits

First of all, I must say these were rushed to finish for our performance. I struggled to make two of these and I wish they both fit us better! They still look pretty good, though. I could not find a fabric like the jacket, so I went with the thickest (but still appropriate) pink fabric I could find. The jacket has princess seams, a gathered sleeve portion, and the lower sleeve portion, and faux pocket flaps. The collar is made from quilting cotton and blue ribbon sewn on for the stripe - it is sewn directly to the jacket neckline, as are the white cuffs. A pink separating zipper is sewn down the front of the jacket. Gidget made all of the bows out of a nice satin fabric. The front bow was orginally just safety pinned, but now has hooks to hold it in place. The hairbows were sewn and glued onto barrettes. We searched and searched for plaid - when I found this similar fabric, there was barely enough and the pattern I drafted for the skirts reflects that - there was nothing left! They are more or less circle skirts pleated at the top (but the pleats are not ironed down). Blue bias tape is sewn on for the bottom stripe. Knee socks and Mary Janes complete the look!
