The scales are real. I made the entire costume out of pleather, foam, metal and fabric paint. More of the costume needs to be worked. I am refitting the breast plate to my body. Basicly making an entire new one. I made the sword, sheath and shield out of wood and metal and foam. All hand painted with some parts of spray paint. :)
