Description

This costume was pretty much an intense labor of love! NEARLY everything on this costume has been, or will be, re-done at least twice. I had a lot of fun in this costume. It was very recognizable, and I got lots of hugs, and I scored with an Axel! ;) I don't mind that there are a ton of other Roxas cosplayers, I think we should all be friends :P I felt like a lot of the other Roxases were glaring at me at Sakuracon, though ;-;

So. The outer jacket was re-done 4 times, due to trying out different patterns and making dummy-versions out of cheap $1/yard fabric. The 3rd edition of this jacket got pretty far into the making (I had started doing the checkers) before I decided to re-do it yet again. It's fully lined with Egyptian Cotton to make it extra super comfy and stuff. I learned to line stuff on my own by figuring it out and playing with the fabric. The zipper is hidden (at least the ugly zipper tape portion) due to my method of lining. I really love the way this jacket turned out, but there are a few things I'd like to fix still. Once I lose a little weight I'm probably going to re-make this and slim it down to make it more fitted. I also know the collar should techinically be made out of a knit or corduroy material, I just couldn't find any with a wide enough wale to it/right color. My sewing machine also wasn't stitching very nicely at this point, so the black lines on the pockets and collar aggravate me as well as some of the messy stitching in other places.

The underjacket was the same pattern as the jacket, just without the sleeves. Yes, I know, it's technically supposed to be a knit as well. I tried working with a knit and it looked very bad so I decided to use something else. This is also lined fully with egyptian cotton :) Soo comfy! Hehe. The zipper pull is too big and not metal, so I'll fix that eventually. The collar was a bit limp, so in the future if I re-do it I'd add interfacing. It also has the same problem here with messy stitching due to my machine. I would also make this more fitted and have the sleeve holes not be so big, so that you cannot see my binding when I don't have my jacket on.

The shoes are cute and comfy, but I need to make accurate shoes. I only wore some cheap vans I got from Wal*Mart that had checks on them.

The wig was made by Ghost613. I like the front shots of it, but honestly the back bothers me a bit. I would also like to re-make it so that I can say "Yes, I made my wig!" and so that I can be anally retentive about accurate-ness. Ghost did a wonderful job, and she didn't charge much, so for now I'm happy with my wig. Especially considering I tried to style a wig, and I cut it far too short D:

I didn't make the keyblade, I did make the keychain for it though. I'm 100% happy with it. I would like to make dual-wielding Roxas blades though, and a struggle bat.

The pants are horrid. At some points they chafed against my legs, and were terribly baggy (I lost weight since I started the cosplay, in my fairness XD) and not very accurate. All in all, my least favorite part of the costume and I will be remaking them.

I had sea-salt props and some paopu's and I like my props. :D

My best friend was my Sora, and the Axel that eventually will be featured with me is Caelendil.
