The Shinken (divine swords) took a bit over 3 months of construction...we made 2 of them! (never again, oh god!)
please visit the gallery to see all the images (we had many various photo shoots, all of which turned out beautiful I think)
for good descriptions of the Shinken please look for cosplay.com member Reikou Hitakana's costume entry for Fuma. (he is much better at describing things than I am, really.) I only did the frilly fancy bits like: the pommel, the knuckle bow, the detail that lays on the blade (the part the script and gem are on), the Hebrew script [he researched it though], the cross guard detail, inset the gem, the gem detail, the gold wire, and I brought up the threaded steel rod as the spine idea that really made this project work (it was the method I used on my Jaenelle's scepter from the BJT at convergence last year) he did all the wood working, sanding, shiny painting, gluing (save knuckle bow detail, I did all that, then he painted it and attached it to sword) and the purple wrapping.
as for the clothing, I commissioned a dear friend, I don't sew, much. I'm more of a wig stylist and prop/accessory maker, however the outer fabric is a poly-cotton twill, the details are red cotton piping, zip front is hidden, the lining is a black broad cloth.
there is no pattern, original mock up based on character design was made and altered to fit.
