We were thinking of doing X-Men for Halloween 2007, and people kept suggesting that I dress as Storm because I'm half-black. Storm's not my favorite, and Halle Berry sucked all the charm out of the character in the X-Movies, which dampened my enthusiasm even more. Then I realized that if Mystique's natural skin color is BLUE, I have as much chance of making that costume fly as anyone else. I used Reel Creations blue airbrush paint the first time I wore this costume - it was sticky due to heavy application, which made it hard to put parts of the costume on over the paint. It also rubbed off everywhere, and I had to use isopropyl alcohol to get the junk off, which took a couple of days. The second time I wore this, it was at Phoenix Cactus Comicon 2008 for a bodypainting demo by Mark Greenawalt. He wanted to do a conversion from Marvel heroes to Marvel Zombies as part of the PCCC Zombie Beauty Pageant. Mark chose to use Wolfe Brothers metallic blue body paint on me - it's considerably cheaper, you don't need an airbrush to put it on, it looks absolutely fabulous, and comes off with soap and water. It did rub off some, so next time I'm going to use Liquiset as the wetting agent, instead of water, which I think will make the stuff adhere for a long time. Additionally, I plan to modify the skirt for some fullness and swing before I wear this again at NYCC 2008. I normally wear yellow contact lenses with this costume, but because we were doing zombie conversion, Mark asked me to wear white-outs. (I just photoshopped out my pupils.)
