My 3rd Costume, again a costume of Padme's the Grey Packing Gown. 2 months in the making including the wig, actal costume took one & a half months. We tried yet again to be as close as possible to the original, it was hard to get the exact fabric for the skirt so had to go with, shot grey taffeta. This grey taffeta was also used for the vest as well that the Grey sleeves are attached to, it didn't matter what was used for the vest as you can't see it once the velvet jacket is in place.
The sleeves were Sandwashed Silk Satin dyed light Grey & the button's on the sleeve's were, hand covered with the same fabric. Cotton velvet used for the Jacket & a stiff Navy woven fabric was used for the applique embroidered front Panel. Hours of hand sewing required for the embroidery & of the beads.
The arms bracelets made from craft Aluminium foil & embossed the pattern onto the back & then hand painted the Bue Stones on.
The head decorations were also made from this & mum made a beautiful chain by hand for it.
The wig was a Lady Godiva wig in Dark Brown, which 3/4 of the hair was cut to make the hair buns, the left over hair pulled up tight to make the small bobble pony at the back of the head.
