This was originally created when SMA was planning on completing a Soul Calibur 3 group, but I ended up wearing it solo. The cg close-up of Xianghua actually resembled me a little bit (which is unfortunate since she looked prettier in SC2), so I pushed to get this done for 2006. I wasn't happy with the results and re-did several pieces for 2007. I love this outfit and hope to complete the colour swap version as well as some other Xianghua costumes.
The sword is the same one from my Player 1 Xianghua from SC2, but I improved the hilt to make it more accurate. It's also a bit "battle worn" thanks to some over-vigorous posing in our SC2 skit. =x Whoops.
This was my first time making a large amount of my own bias tape and I think it turned out alright. Also my first time trying to get a gradient into fabric...I'm rather afraid of using dye, so I used diluted fabric paint, which turned out alright (at least, I think it did). =x
