Misato! I started making this as a surprise with some friends for ayareinami*YAY* and lulubird, to wear with their amazing Evangelion cosplays. They'd been whining at me to be Misato for some time now, and while Evangelion is one of my favorite series, I didn't think I was well suited to any of the younger characters. Besides. I love beer. I'm loud. I look beast in red. I'm Misato, kay.

The jacket and hat I made out of a red upholstery vinyl - The jacket I used a burda pattern for a jean jacket, intended to be unlined, but i added a black lining for the body and blue nylon lining for the collar, as they are totally two different colors. I made the collar so that it wasnt' fully attached to the coat, as I swear that's what the reference art said. The patches and patterns on the coat are done with what i called 'pleather stained glass!' Which basically means I cut out pleather and put it over other fabric, and stitched it on before I lined this bad boy. In the end, the coat is by FAR my favorite part of the costume, I think it looks like something out of Akira.

The hat is just a beret, easy enough to draft out and sew. The dress was made of some stretch velveteen in the Xmas clearance bin, and I don't want to talk about how putting that white on the collar was, for some reason, the hardest part of the whole costume. The silver cross and earrings were made and spraypainted.
