So, remember that time I cosplayed Misa Amane and said "this is probably the most ghetto costume I will ever wear"?
Well, I made a liar out of myself. I think this costume is just as ghetto, if not even MORE Ghetto. I originally put it together for use in the skit "The Game of Life" at A-Cen 2008, but I REALLY wanted to give it a test run before then, so I also wore it to a cosplay gathering in Early May 2008.
In the beginning, I didn't even know which version of Light I was going to do. I had the vague knowledge in my head that he had a verison with a black pull-over and khakis, and a version with a striped button up... I never expect to FIND a striped button up, but lo and behold, I did, for only 3 dollars, so that's the version I went with. I did almost NO WORK on this costume. the shirt, pants, and belt were all purchased from value village for a grand total of $15, and required no modifications. The watch was a last mintue addition and cost me only 99 cents -- however, when I bought it it was black and green, and didn't function. It STILL doesn't function, but now at a glance it at least ressemebles Light's watch. the tie was given to me by my friend TseUq, and it's one of her old Choir ties. And finally, the wig, was my first attempt at my Haku wig -- but straightening it didn't work at all, and I somehow FRIED part of the bangs. I was afraid I'd have to call it a loss, but with some clever combing, cutting and hairspray, I produced this little baby. Saved me 30 bucks, really. I'm glad I didn't have to trash it after all.
