Since I love Itachi, I decided during the summer to make a cosplay of him. I first wore it on Halloween, but improved the costume a bit more for the cosplay party. For such, me and my two best friends actually went in an akatsuki trio (Itachi, Sasori and Pein). It took me a lot of time and money to make for one of my early cosplays. It's also insanely comfy and quite cosy in a cold Canadian winter- however, I nearly got frostbite when I stepped in a snowbank with the sandals on in -25 degree weather X_X.... the costume consists of;
-Akatsuki leaf headband
-Necklace (made with necklace charms I found that looks almost exactly like his but with red stones in them...though it broke eventually)
-Black shirt with mesh front (cut up a pair of fishnet tights for adding the mesh into a bought shirt)
-Breastbinder and girdle (same as off my Kabuto costume)
-Black pants, out of my closet
-My Kabuto sandals with white knee socks cut and sewn over them
-Akatsuki ring & dark plum nailpolish
-Cloak (more info on that below.)
-Kasa (but I hate it so for the most part didn't even wear it), made by buying a basic kasa hat from an Asian grocery store and sewing on the cloth strips and the bell-string. I never got around to painting the red portion on, though.
-Natural hair; I had no idea about, or money for, wigs at the time. I just let my bangs grow out as much as I could in the month's notice I had. Didn't have the funds for dyeing it, though, so I just had to make do. Still turned out pretty well.
-Slate eyeliner for the eyelines, and some red eye makeup.
I'm definitely proud of the cloak; I made it out of black wool jacquard, red broadcloth, and did the clouds by sewing on the red and doing the edges and spirals in white bias tape (cut in half lengthwise) folded in to avoid frays and hand-stitched on. Took a LONG time to make, over 60 hours. It's also to a level where I can wear it as a light coat, due to the fabric choice. But consequently, this is a bad choice in warm weather, or to drink in (vodka really gets you hot under an akatsuki cloak,lol X_X).
I found it a bit odd to be Itachi and wear glasses, but I was able to joke that I was blind Itachi XD. I also got glomped like crazy at the party. The total hours I spent making the cosplay were about 70, and the total cost was (rounded up) about $90.
