She's mean, she's stylish, and she carries a whip! Not to mention, she's PERFECT. I think this is my new favorite costume. I always thought I wanted to play sweet little princess girls all the time... until I became a perfectly perfect prosecutor. Foolishly foolish fools beware!
Big thanks to my husband for help making my jewels. I love how they sparkle. They're made from Dremel-cut plexiglass, with bevels cut into the edges. Once he cut them out, I painted the backs with several coats of shimmery aqua glass paint, finished up with a silver leafing pen. I've had to repair a few, but they are easily repainted.
The wig started as a silver Wisp from Cosworx, and my friend Ali helped me Sharpie dye it with a light blue tinge. I think it's the closest to Franziska's hair color I've seen anywhere - that's just not a color you typically find on wigs.
Franzy is a great costume to wear, especially as an antidote to the sweet and lovely Princess Peach. While Peach has to be pleasant and polite to everyone, Franzy can snark a bit, threaten people (in jest, of course), and smirk at the camera. Gives a great pose for the "Can I have a picture *with* you?" questions when I wrap my whip around their necks. ;)
She's also a bit sexy, not in the trashy way, but in a very elegant way. I was asked to participate in a "pin-up" photoshoot at AFest with her, something few of my other costumes would be considered for. She doesn't show any skin to speak of - even though she does have a short skirt (with dark tights underneath). I just feel hot in this costume without feeling vulnerable.
I've discovered that, although she's wearing a bit *more* clothing that Maya Fey from the same game series, Franzy gets quite a bit more attention and photos. Maya tends to go invisible without a Phoenix, but Franzy is capable to stand on her own. She may not be the nicest character, but she's a strong female presence in the Phoenix Wright series. I've gotten more hugs as Franzy than any other character I play (with the possible exception of N. Italy). I'm still not sure why this is, but it's mostly hugs from girls. Maybe they figure that someone so cranky could use a good hug!
