Oh, man. They said it couldn't be done.
It had been on our minds for quite a while, to do Team Rocket cosplay. Every time I saw Jessie, I was disappointed in teh wig. I gave credit to people when they at least attempted to do some sort of styling, but more often than not the wig (when applicable) was not styled and worn down over the shoulders.
It was a challenge. I had the boots already (see Lady Seph and Quistis) and the costume itself didn't seem too difficult. BUT. I had the worst time with the gloves. I didn't want satin ones. I as afraid that they wouldn't fit right, and that the shimmer from the fabric would be too shiny in flash. It's very clear that her gloves match her boots. So I was off in search for leather gloves. I found a few on eBay, but I was outbid. I ended up buying a pair at 3AM, but rather than buying vinyl, I got latex. I thought that all was lost until I tried one on. With a little polish and some work, it would be fine. I put them away for a week, then I was showing them to my friends. It was only the second time I'd worn them and POP it split down the center... one week before the con. So I ended up having to buy the satin ones.
And then there's the wig. Oh man. oh maaaaaan... I tried two different approaches. The first was the same as a Marie Antoinette wig, only horizontal. Well, it didn't work, so we had to build an armature out of chicken wire, painter's tape (out of masking and duct), and some foam batting all painted red. It seems to have worked out.
