I've always wanted to make a Da/Xiao Qiao costume, and when I saw the design for the DW6 game, I just haddddd to do it! So much pink and I love it!
I focused so much on details, details, details since I love the design so much! Everything from the different colored trims (I must've went to like 10 diff. stores in NYC's fabric district to find similar trims like hers XD LoL), making all the ruffles, detailing her corset and sleeves (oogled the reference pics closely while hand painting them with acrylic), sewed the outer itty bitty pink trim on her blue neck ribbon, gradient dyeing the skirt, hair accessory, and sleeves, painted the shoes, etc etc. Oh, and I picked a brocade-ish fabric for the corset to give it a little bit of texture since she always has brocade on her previous costumes (was surprised that there was none on this version!)
The fans... where to begin? They were a pain to make for sure, but totally worth it at the end <3 They started off as blank fans, which then I painted on and created stamps for the flowers design on it. All the 3D flowers/leaves were cut, sealed, painted several layers on individually ( x_x took so long since there were like... at least 50 of them --> was ded afterwards). Unfortunately, they are a bit bigger than I'd like them to be, so it was hard to carry both of them at once, LoL... I only bring 1 to cons while the other sits at home XD
