My wife (then girlfriend) and I went to a New Year's party that had a superhero theme. We both liked Sailor Moon a lot, so I asked her to be Sailor Moon so I could be Tuxedo Mask. We spent a long time working on her yarn wig and her mom helped me make a cape to attach to my old tuxedo. This was the first time either of us cosplayed! I've worn this costume to a few conventions too.
