Description
Wow... Where can I start with this? This is definitely the most complex and detailed costume I ever had to make. (And here I thought I'd never do another one after Ion Fortuna. XD;) From when I decided I wanted to do this costume, to when I finished it took approximately half a year. I KNOW! DAMN!
It took about two months to actually find the fabric I was looking for. I went to the LA Fashion District first for the fabric, and I found this wonderful dyed fabric called Batik. The problem was that it was $8 a yard and I was not about to spend that much... especially since I needed A LOT of fabric. Luckily, after shopping around for a couple months, I found the most wonderful fabric at Joann's Quilting Section. Oh snap!! <3 The designs on the obi and the bow was hand cut from leftover gold lame from my Ion costume.
The actual construction of the costume wasn't hard. The only thing that took really long was the detail on the sleeves, and sewing the white borders on them took a really long time too. (By the time I got to the designs on the body of the coat, I was already pretty quick at sewing it all on. XD) The entire thing is fully lined, horrible for mid-day summer heat but it is totally awesome for night time.
The umbrella was hand painted from a $2 umbrella. It was broken so I got it on sale. *_* The sword was made of balsa wood and paper clay. It also contained shavings from a glow in the dark wig from Party City I bought almost 6 years ago.
Man, even though I tried to work on a budget for this costume, it still cost me an arm and a leg. (and also many sleepless nights)
I love this costume.
