Description

D.Gray ver3 uniforms!! I looove the design, but coat pattern was so difficult to work with. This costume was a collaborate effort with ycysusan. She basically cut out the pattern for me and taught me how to line the coat, and was also responsible for adding the red lines running around the cuffs of the sleeves and the back of the coat, and also the thin red line on the front left of the coat beneath the red-bordered zipper. She also cut out the leather peices used for the exorcist badge and was awesome enough to put the coat pieces together and fit it on me ;3; We divided up the tasks so that all four uniforms in the group would look...well, uniform. xD

I created all the other small accessories from the gold beads and diamond shaped beads going from the shoulder to neck, drawing on the small details on the badges, making the red zippers on the coat chest, and creating the special "E" buttons with the silver teardrop gems that dangle from it, and also the small pouches that each D.Gray character has in the new uniforms (I need to remake those; they were rushed, and horribly made).

The pendants/buttons were created from ultralight sculpey, baked in the oven to harden and then painted with acrylic paint. The other buttons (ones on shoulder and running down the coat) were bought from Fashion District. Cosplayer unlock also helped us by spraypainting the buttons red and sewing buttons on :3

For Rinali's ruffle skirt, I had to painstakingly iron pleats into dark red suiting fabric and added a tiny maroon lace edge to it as well. Made wide, double fold bias tape out of the red fabric we bought, and uh....sew+glued on the red border onto the collar and running down the length of the coat. Added thick white lace trim to a pair of white thigh high socks. Spraypainted walmart-bought shoes a berry color and spraypainted metal cuffs red for her crystal innocence. I couldn't find cuffs that were round & yet big enough to put on my ankles, so had to settle for thinner metal cuffs to use for it.

In the fanbook it shows that she also has these long tight black armwarmer-type things on that reach above her elbow below the shoulder, and end in a black lace-edged round on the back of her hand. You can somewhat see this in some of the pictures. I made this part out of black swimsuit like material (for the stretch) and sewed black lace around the bottom.

We spent so much time making sure these uniforms would turn out nice, and I think, or at least I hope, it shows. I really love this outfit so much, it's very durable and so comfortable to wear as well, I'd actually be willing to wear it out normally once I take off the badges and stuff, haha. The only sadface thing about this costume is that the shoes are half a size too small and they hurt-ish. :P
