Description

I have always been a fan of Sailor Moon. I knew eventually I would make a Sailor outfit. While browsing online I found the perfect shoe for V. It was then and there that confirmed Sailor V for me. Though since I don't want to mess up one of the traditional fukus I went for Sailor V hoping that I wouldn't butcher that.

The skirt was the first time I didn't use a premade pattern. Went for it trusting that I could pull of a circle skirt which admittingly isn't a hard skirt in anyway. What I did though was use practical math to figure out how long the radiuses of the panels needed to be since I was going to make the skirt from 3 'C' panels. A very full circle skirt. I did that so I could avoid pleating and to create the look of the manga.

The shirt, while not hard, had a ton of sewn on detail aka the sleeves and the 'armor.' The front and hair bow were done by following a tutorial online. The sailor collar was also done following a tutorial.

I also learned the hard way that not strechy fabric sewn onto strechy fabric does not work. So to get the yellow bands on the gloves (after killing the yellow ribbon I was using with the sewing machine) I just finally glued it on using a round tube to simulate the diameter of my arm where the top of the glove will rest.

A lot of circles in this costume.
