Turn Back the Pendulum
Last Updated: 01-13-2009
This costume was made with Tassie to complement her TBTP version of Tousen Kaname.
The juban and kosode were constructed from McCalls pattern 2940, while the hakama were made using Anne Liese's pattern for Men's Hakama.
The juban is made from a white gabardine (it feels sooo nice against the skin), while the kosode and hakama are both in bottomweight twill.
The wig is a Fashion 101 in color 60 (purchased at amphigory). I've colored my visible hair to match with Ben Nye's Snow White Hair.
To make Shinso, I purchased a base sword and scabbard and cut them down to the appropriate length (really really short). I constructed the unique Tsuba from MDF. The tsukamaki is done with corrugated ribbon.
A note about eye color. Don't bother telling me Icihmaru's eyes are red. The animators did that before the official color was released. I've gone with Kubo's blue. I think it fits his icy personality well. :)
Update: The debut didn't go so well. Only one person recognized Tassie's Tousen (that wasn't much of a surprise). But I got some rather critical comments when I was alone. Much as I love Ichimaru (and cosplaying him), apparently I don't cosplay him well. Ah well, cosplay is all about fun, right? Peeps can just look the other way if they don't want to see my Fail!Gin. >:3
