I was inspired by my friend's hilariously ridiculous "Dale Earnhart Jr. Lolita" cosplay originally to make this. I really love the idea of super silly "lolita" costumes, especially because so many lolita cosplayers take themselves a little too seriously.

Besides that, I actually REALLY love this costume, it's definitely one of the best I've ever made. It was a lot of firsts for me: making a corset, making a petticoat, and dying a wig using the alcohol/sharpie method. I drafted the patterns for the skirt and sleeve glove things, and had to do a ton of altering on the corset, since it originally was just a crappy lingerie one, with the pattern not even using boning.

Hilariously, I get stopped constantly by random people admiring the ridiculous shoes, which were a pretty awesome find for me, since I got them for $5 at www.electriqueboutique.com. They are actually a lot more comfortable than they seem they would be, except when I do stuff like accidentally trip in the parking lot (because my skirts are too full to see where I'm walking), and almost twist my ankle. O__o
