My third ever cosplay costume - the first one that I did any work on (Well, I made the "tail" patterns for my Koto costume, but that is beside the point). I made the wings myself, and did almost all of the hand sewing. My grandmother didn't trust me near a sewing machine, so she did all of that work, along with cutting the fabric.
I love this costume to death, but it was difficult to create, especially as I was (... and still am) a novice, and I had to make all the patterns except for the shirt. The wings took the longest time to complete - I finished them with a few days of the con, and the rest of the costume was nearly completed at 2 AM the night (day?) of... I finished the rest of it on the car ride up. ^^()
The costume is also a bit hard to walk in. The bottom hem was small and not elastic - my steps were confined to about a foot long unless I hiked the skirt far up. But the wings were fun. ^^
Most of the time that I wore this outfit, I just used my own hair, not color. But the picture shown was taken after I let my friend "spray paint" my hair pink. ^^ (I am determined to never use a wig. Why, I dunno.) It was fun, but it made my hair really stiff.
The wings shown are... quite retired. I was running after my friend, dressed in a huge Pocky Box, when he stopped short. I fell backwards - onto my wings. They warped. One managed to twist around my arm, and the other was bent in half. I walked back to our hotel room telling everyone who asked I had just been in a big fight with Yue. ^^' A new pair of wings is in the planning for the up-coming cosplay season.
Not much else to say, but that this was a great experience to get me into cosplay.
