Description
Wow, this costume has an amazing story! While attending Wizard World Chicago 07 i ran into the D.C. Direct booth where they were showcasing the new Ame-Comi Designs! (D.C. heros done with an anime twist!) Needless to say i completely fell in love with the Ame-Comi Wonder Woman design! I was so excited i started jumping up and down and babbling on and on about how much i loved the design to the guy behind the booth, even telling him i planned on making the costume for 08 i was so impressed with it. It wasn't after i had gone all fangirl on the poor guy that i found out he was Jim Fletcher of D.C. Direct!! and he laughing told me if i showed up as Ame-Comi Wonder Woman for 08 he would give me a figure!! i was totally sold and super excited!!! (dont need to tell me twice!)
Since the figure wasn't going to be released until 08 i was unable to purchase it and use it as a reference, and unfortunately the internet pics only showed it from the front! I owe Jim a big THANK YOU! because he supplied me with some of the best reference images i've ever seen! YEY! i was back in business!
This costume took months to complete, and was deceptively difficult, though i'm very pleased with out it came out! Especially the wig and shoes, i'm not skilled in wig crafting at all! and i've only had to style (very lightly mind you) a handful of wigs, but i managed to get the wig to look exactly how i wanted it too! i was so pleased!
the shoes started out as basic black pumps and i got to use a new technique for creating the wings on the back, then it was just a matter of adding straps and painting it gold!
I also want to send a thank you to Tenshi, he managed to brilliantly craft my sword and shield with a great eye for detail, i mean the shield even had the little rivits on it! But it was still light enough to carry with me all day! super thank you for such a wonderful job!!
I'm really pleased with how it came out over all, after wearing it i fixed a few things that i wasn't completely satisfied with (the skirt needed snaps to keep it in place) but over all i'm very happy with how it came out and its super fun to wear! during a recent photoshoot a girl had her father stop the van they were driving by in just so she could run out and get a photo with me! i was so super touched!!! so thanx everyone who helped Ame-Comi Wonder Woman come to life ^_^
