Human Disguise

Invader Zim

Last Updated: 01-12-2010

This was one of my costumes at Anime North 2009. It was a partnered cosplay with one of my friends, who went as an anthro GIR for the whole weekend.

The cosplay held up pretty well, but at least more people recognized me this year at the con this year! I kept doing ZIM impressions for the whole day and my voice was wrecked by the end of that night.

Unfortunately, I ran out of time to make the PAK for the con. I intentionally wanted it to make it a functional backpack so I can store my extra money, cell-phone, emergency make-up and my camera without them weighing me down while carrying stuff from the dealer's room.

---

MAKEUP- Bought around Halloween. Bought 2 tubes of green cream makeup in case I needed touch-ups at the con. It kept peeling off my lips every so often (it was easy to re-apply) but it didn't seem to bother my skin either.

BOOTS - I actually got these as an early Christmas gift from my mother and I wear these everywhere in real life, but they're super comfortable and stylish.

GLOVES - Bought a pair at an accessory store at half-price, but I decided to make gloves from scratch instead. They held up for the most part, but the seams on my right hand were popping out at the end on Saturday.

TIGHTS - Bought at Wal-Mart.

CONTACTS - One of my friends was organizing to buy colored contacts in bulk if enough people buy them (it's cheaper that way). Ordered a pair of violet ones with prescription since I didn't want to wear my glasses over my painted face (or walk around blindly). By the time it came, I only received one (for my right eye) due to a mistake by the company on ordering my prescription. The other one (my left eye) came two days before the con so my friend was able to give it to me on Friday night. They were super comfortable and didn't give me any problems (although they did made me look stoned until I put my makeup on).

SHIRT - Bought an extra large children's pajama shirt with a turtleneck. Used fabric markers for the lies, but they smudged a little bit when I was ironing it.

WIG - My best friend told me the best one would be an Elvis wig and customize it. Bought it at a party store. Made my head look super poofy at the con.

SHIRT AND SKIRT (MAIN PART) - Starting to finish sewing for the finished product, but managed to finish it on the day of the con (and finished sewing the shoulder pads on the Saturday). Sewing by hand takes too long and strains your fingers!
