Description

Earlier this year, novaraven1 asked me if I would cosplay something from Yu-Gi-Oh for a group. It was one of my early fandoms but my Kaiba costume was long retired and there wasn't anyone I especially wanted to cosplay anymore. ^_^; In the end, I settled on Cecelia since it would make a logical pair with her Pegasus and be relatively simple to make. Plus, I had never seen her cosplayed before and I have a penchant for rare cosplays.

Dress: I made the dress from silk shantung, using lining for the bodice and French seams for the skirt. The skirt is large enough to spread in a circle around me when sitting. The poofy parts of the sleeves and the pink bows are interfaced with netting.

Petticoats: I made both petticoats that I wore under the dress. The first was one that I’d made a few years ago for a ballgown costume that I never got around to doing. It had several layers of netting attached to a muslin slip and was very poofy as a result. I didn’t need such a poofy petticoat for Cecelia so I ripped out half of the layers of netting. The other petticoat was made from white cotton with two layers of ruffles at the bottom. I made it the same size as the skirt on the dress and it was so huge that I needed about 3 yards of fabric just for the ruffles!

Wig: I just wore one that I already had since I didn’t want to buy a new one for a costume that wouldn’t be worn often. ^_^;

Contacts: I got a pair of Color Max contacts in aqua to use for this and some other costumes.
