Description
This was made using an old bridesmaid gown! It was a hideous taffeta number, so I tore it apart to make this EGL inspired gown from the Chobits Artbook.
Basically, the dress was cut at the knee, split up the center and held apart by eyelets and ribbon. The petticoat was bought and the white ribbon edging is all made from white taffetta that I ruffled by hand and then sewed on. On top of that, lavender ribbon was sewed in patterns around the edges and used to tie the skirt 'open.'
The top was modifiyed by taking out the center panel and adding a white taffeta panel with mock "corset" type ribbon in the center. Also edged with homemade ruffles.
The sleeves were made using the discarded bottom section of the skirt, using a modified bell sleeve pattern from my Arwen gown. The top of the sleeves are cut in the square pattern and edged with the ruffles and ribbon. Eyelets are used to keep the ribbon tie in place. The sleeves are held up by simply being tied under the armpit to another ribbon attacked to the armpit of the dress. They did tend to slip off after a long night.
The ears are the same pattern used on my random persocom costume, made out of foam sheets and glued onto a white headband that was trimmed down the center with a purple ribbon. The spools were also made from foam. Ribbons tied around my neck and thigh (with garter of course) completed the Chii.
I am still in need of nice EGL shoes, and after wearing it to the Walt Disney World Halloween Party later on in the year, it is in bad need of ironing/dry cleaning! It also needs a bit more attention on the straps and more ruffles on the skirt.
I def. feel pretty and girly in this costume! It was debuted as "Little Miss Muffet" at a theatre department event and worked perfectly before I had my wig.
