Cho Hakkai

Manga Version

This is the first cosplay that I made.

I made the green shirt from scratch from an altered pattern. I have to say though...trim is not fun, especially around corners. I do want to try to re-make it eventually with a different pattern as a base though and trying different things with the trim.

For the headband, I only have it go about halfway around. Then it slants up and there is a band of skin-colored elastic that goes around the back. That way, when worn, it looks full in the front while being completely hidden under the hair in the back!

The sash was actually too short. So I extended it, keeping the seams hidden under the knot so it appears to be one piece. Also, the 'knot' was sewn separately and then attached so that it doesn't slip undone and always looks pretty. Looking back, the only thing I would like to say about the process is that invisible stitching is a pain and takes forever.

The pants I bought. End of story.

The black shirt I bought, then modified. Sort of the same story with the shoes...although it just involved removing a few extraneous straps and metal bits.

Along similar lines, the monocle used to be Harry Potter glasses which I cannibalized with pliers. I want to find a better pair to make a monocle out of though. This one is too big and I'd like a thicker frame so it shows up better in photos.

Also the first time I styled a wig, although really not much styling was involved after the trimming. It used to be an Elton John wig. XD

I also love my power limiters. I got myself some craft sheet metal from Michael's that I could cut with scissors and bend easily, so I made them out of it. I wear them daily now. =3
