Ahh, Maleficent.

In 2007 there was talk of doing a Disney Baddies group- and while playing Kingdom Hearts I found I really liked Maleficent. Got talked into considering the costume, and shortly after was thoroughly hooked (watching the movie helped a lot).
The group fell through- but I still made the costume for myself and for fun, not to mention the fact that I'd been missing cosplaying for a while, since I'm so often behind the camera.


The top layer is actually a one piece dress and cloak that is tied in the back (I need to work on how it hangs a bit more) and the sleeves are scalloped and left open at the body so they look larger and fuller. The lining on the sleeves is heat n' bonded on so that I could keep the sharp lines and points of the sleeves. The under dress is red cotton sateen in a standard, full skirt dress, with a corset underneath (which you never see, but what the hell. XD)

The headpiece was made out of paper mache and paper pulp, and I actually forgot to paint the lines on it before con- d'oh! Next time!

The makeup is ben nye, and took about 1.5 hours to put on. It takes nearly 45 minutes to get off too. XD

Overall, I'm really happy with how this turned out- I can’t believe the reaction I got from everyone who saw me, but now I can't wait to wear it again!
