Psychic'er Dressphere

Final Fantasy X-2

Last Updated: 12-03-2008

I've been wanting to do a Rikku costume ever since I saw her new hairdo in FFX-2. Her hairstyle rocks!! It's got that piratey, punky edge to it. I bought a long blonde wig with bangs from ebay, and my friend gave me a huge section of extensions that nearly matched. My boyfriend helped me dye all the hair a more dirty blonde/yellow. We used the sharpie spray dye method as described in the forum tutorials and it worked great! You just gotta make sure you rinse it thoroughly-a ton of it comes out. I put the wig in a ponytail and braided the extensions, added beads and put everything together! I am way, way proud of how it turned out.

I started with the wig, then looked through all the dresspheres. The one that was most easy, and one of the more modest, was the Psychic'er dressphere. It has kind of a cheerleader/cyberpunk feel to it. I looked everywhere for the perfect box pleated skirt and found one just in time on ebay. I added ruffle trim to a blouse and made the cuff sleeves with felt and trim. I used Adobe Illustrator to make perfect circles for the skirt (I was laughing the whole time too, but hey! That's what computers are for!) and hot glued those and the trim to the skirt. I made some boot covers that were pretty simple. The goggles are made using metallic funfoam, clear green plastic from binder dividers, and a headband, all hot glued together. A very easy costume that turned out great!
