Goddess costume

Oh My Goddess!

Last Updated: 12-06-2008

This costume cost a fortune to make. The dress is a modified Vogue evening gown pattern. I made two front panels and cut them on angles, overlaying them on top of each other to make the split. The fabric had some kind of subtle sheen to it, and a second layer of organza-like nylon was laid on top, so I made the dress twice. I also made nylon ruffle sleeves. The blue is a sleeveless nurse's scrub with a widened neck and lengthened to match the train of the dress. The collar was added and is held up with a stuffed roll sewn underneath. The gold triangles are a gold lace. The gloves and socks are just more blue material cut into wide strips I used as wraps. There's a keyhole in the back with a gold ring, two red feathers, a ribbon I made by sewing three ribbons on top of each other, and two blue tassels. The jewelry I bought and assembled: the necklace is an omega necklace with earrings attached. I made the wings myself! Bought the feathers from Rainbow Feathers, made the frame out of wire and chicken wire, glued batting to it, then glued the feathers on. They're attached to the dress actually with industrial Velcro and to large hooks and eyes. One side came unattached once, otherwise they were extremely secure. I could even sit with them.
