Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is insanely popular in Japan right now. When I first saw the anime, I was hooked and knew I had to cosplay someone. I went with Hibari because his outfit is easy yet his tonfas make him recognizable. Plus, I've got narrow eyes.

Most of the outfit came from the wardrobe. I made the tonfas from PVC pipe and colored tape. I also made the armband and Hibird (who was the wrong color because that was the closest shade I could find). The tie turned out to be the hardest thing because no store in my town carried a plain blue tie. I wound up painting one and it looked like crap.

The only differences with Version 2 are in the tonfas and the tie. I re-taped the tonfas to make them look smoother. While in Sendai, I found the cosplay store, caved, and bought a red tie that all the Japanese cosplayers had (even though Hibari's original tie is blue). I decided to stick with my ghetto armband because $25 is not worth it. Eventually I'll stitch on the Kanji instead of using fabric paint.
