I had heard about Fantastic Children long before I watched it. The story was said to be amazing, although I didn't know much more about it than that. So I finally sat down and started watching it, and it really is an amazing story! The plight of poor Helga and her strange memories of a landscape she's never seen gives way to a tale of a princess whisked away from her home world and sent to Earth where she waits for those who would send her back home. Helga is around 11 years old, and being in a children's home where she is mistreated, she often escapes into her own world where she can draw her distant memories. Her only friend is Chitto, who tries very hard to make Helga smile.

Helga's outfit is very simple: purple cotton skirt, pink cotton shirt with a Peter Pan collar and button, and flat black shoes. I already had the wig and shoes, and making the outfit was very easy. I did start on the drawing she is often pictured with, and decided to draw it in crayon as it seems she either uses those or oil pastels.

I'm so glad I can share my love of this show through my costuming - I hope I can get more people to watch it!
