Finally got everything together for Anime Matsuri. The sword needs to be remade though cause it's too heavy for me to wield properly, and it's a bit too wide. I lost my Timcanpy at the con :'( so I have to make another one. It was a lot of fun to wear the costume at Matsuri, though. The sword was made of foamboard, posterboard, PVC pipe, and foamy sheets. Timcanpy is made of a ping-pong ball, and his wings are...I think foam with little feathers layered over them. I attached the wings to the ball and then added some fluffy duck feather to hide the connection. Then I added a pipe cleaner and a puff ball for his tail, and used craft foam to sculpt his feet and horns on. I think it turned out well, and it sucks that I have to try and redo it >< I hope to make the next one with either wings that flap or a mouth that opens ^^ The ribbon was originally just a red ribbon that I added a stripe to with tape and a sharpie. I'm constantly surprised by how well sharpies work on fabric. I spent a long time looking for good fur for the coat, but I found some good stuff at Hancock's. I got blue contacts for the costume, but I'm not sure how well they show up in the pictures. They show up pretty well in life though, cause they're a darker blue on my pale face >< The mask is just a generic mask from Hobby Lobby with 2 mm foam used to add the decorations, and puffy paint. It could have been better, but it wasn't too bad. The worst thing about this costume was probably the heat, cause the coat was thick and fluffy, and I was wearing his button-up shirt and vest under it, so it got pretty hot >< I chose to go with the 5th lab outfit because that whole arc in the anime was really awesome to me. I hope to be wearing this again at A-kon 20. Hopefully I 'll meet up with some more D.Gray-man fans there!
