Miaka Yuuki

Artbook Priestess Robes

Fushigi Yuugi

Last Updated: 03-23-2009

I love Fushigi Yuugi, and even though everyone else thinks she's annoying, I love Miaka. (Probably BECAUSE she's annoying...) I wanted to cosplay her, but I didn't want to do the school uniform or the robes that everyone else does, so I opted for this artbook version instead.

Everything is made of Casa Satin, and all of the designs on the sleeves and skirt are appliqued. It took forever to cut out all of those little pieces, but I think it was worth it!

The headdress is made of fake flowers, a floral bird decoration and foamies, and the necklace is made from a super sturdy wire, some DMC floss that I braided to make the ties, jewelry chains, and everything else I could manage to work into it.

I originally had worn Miaka to Ohayocon in 2007, but I was so unhappy with her that I completely revamped the top of the robes and the belts, as well as the jewelry and redoing the headdress. I also redid the blue ruffle at the bottom of the skirt as well as relining and stitching the bottom of the designs on the pink skirt. After about 70% of this costume was revamped or fixed from the original, I was finally happy with the result and took her back to Ohayocon 2008. Thankfully I have no pictures of what I call the fail original version. =P

Special thanks to isamu85 who did a photoshoot with me at Momocon! He took all of the awesome pictures with the white lamps and the yellow vase of doom! <3
