Final Fantasy X

This costume is a great illustration of my attraction towards dangerously heavy and unwieldy costumes >____<
This is the second incarnation of this costume (the first one was a 10-day rush job of Celluclay and styrofoam), and took three weeks to complete. First, all of the armor pieces were sculpted from roma plastilina. Molds were then made with Flexwax (I can't recommend this highly enough for moldmaking; it's reusable!) and filled with Bondo to create resin shells. These were filled with Great Stuff, pinholes were filled with wood filler, and the pieces were painted with gesso and acrylic paint. The chest and shoulder pieces are mounted to a mantle of padded fiberglass. The fabric is all silk.
Did I mention that it's heavy? Two hours in this costume and I am down for the count. I'm working on changing the mounting system so that the head, shoulders, and chest are mounted on a backpack frame.
I still need to make a beltpiece, gauntlets, sleeves, proper geta, and a sword. And finish the detailing on the cloth pieces.
