Blue dress

Beauty and the Beast

Last Updated: 10-24-2009

Belle is my favorite Disney Princess, being dark haired and a mezzo-soprano.

The shirt is made out of a linen fabric (possibly a blend). It buttons up for ease of wearing, was the first to be finished due to my experience with Karla, and contributed to my love of natural fibers. Which is pretty much it.

The apron was the second to be finished. It's just a rectangle of cotton muslin that wrinkles if you look at it funny.

The dress is either a voile or a very, very fine cotton poplin. It has a full facing due to the slight sheer fabric, with a hook and eye closure for the back as invisible zippers and I don't get along. Strangely, this doesn't wrinkle much at all despite being crammed in my closet along with my other cosplays and regular clothes.

The shoes are white ballet flats with covers of brown poplin, to accommodate the raised heel cup.

I'd like to get or make a bell jar for the rose I bought, but that seems unlikely.

Cost so far: $80 for fabric, wig, and rose.
