Description

Why did I choose to make this?
Because I love Card Captor Sakura and needed a simple costume to walk around in. Thus Tomoyo popped into my head! Besides, last year I wanted to do her Winter uniform but didn't have enough fabric to make it in the end so I'm glad I get to do Tomoyo again ^_^

Price breakdown:
0.5m white cotton [£3]
2.7m black polycotton [£4]
2.5m black ribbon [£1]

The majority of this costume was actually made of random fabric/materials lying around. The top was made by cutting up a big t-shirt, shortening it and cutting away the collar and sleeves. Afterwards I used the spare white cotton I had lying around to make the puffy sleeves - I inserted elastic at the bottom hem to get that cute puffy look they uniform has! Elastic was from my old Sumomo cosplay haha. Then I made a rectangle for the cuff with black ribbon sewn on.

The black skirt involved measuring my waist and multiplying my 3 then making box pleats! I wanted black cotton however I couldn't find any at Trago therefore I settled with polycotton; since it's a short skirt it's much easier. And because it's supposed to be a nice simple cosplay I didn't want to fork out much on pure cotton!!! A waistband was sewn on to get that generic school skirt look and zip added at the side.

Collar was the hardest bit in my opinion. Although I've made a sailor fuku collar before I decided to make it a more curved look rather than a straight-forward triangle look. I was being an idiot and so it took me a while to get it right lol! I got there eventually obviously but it did take a heck of a long time! On one side I even had to hack it off because it was smaller than the other side; had to make another front panel and sew it on so it looks rather odd. Black ribbon was sewn on after I got the shape right.

Tie isn't a real tie, it's basically a tie shape piece of red polycotton and sewn onto the collar. It's better this way because 1) Less fabric needed; 2) It's hidden by the collar anyway and normal ties would show quite obviously - soooo I think I'm allowed to be lazy this once =]

I like this costume, it's cute! It feels so different to my past cosplays, it's as if I started cosplaying again. I'm using no wig, no annoying parts of the costume that drive me mad... everything is so simple!! IT FEELS WEIRD! XD It's nice making a simple costume for a change though! =D
