2nd Season Opening

I love the outfit, and I wanted her wand in the worst way. :D My friend and I are having a ton of fun making the Star Wand. My first time making a prop!
The whole outfit has been a learning experience for me, since I've never had to make a tiered skirt before, and gathering is still a fairly new thing. I actually started this outfit in the spring of '09 but got so frustrated trying to figure out the three under skirts that I had to put it aside until December. But then I figured out how to do the thing that was vexing me and managed to get most of the outfit done in a week. :) I shattered two needles in the process, since my sewing machine apparently hates sewing through six layers of twill. Ooops?
The socks are made out of spare fabric I had, since I wanted them to match the dress, and they're different lengths anyway so I figured it was easier to make my own. Stretch twill is my new best friend. Yes.
The wand has been a challenge in itself. The staff was painted pink but it turned out that the pink paint was far too light so my friend had to re-cover the wand with the extra ribbon I had from when we did the top piece. The top piece is an embroidery hoop covered in pink ribbon with two cardboard stars glued to it to give it a 3-D look. The wings are paper clay that my friend drew the details into and painted white. It's actually fairly light, all things considered. :)
