INSPIRATION: I LOVE BUNNY SUITS. THEY ARE JUST SO MUCH FUN TO MAKE. SHE SAID SARCASTICALLY. Okay, the bunny suit design IS adorable, classic, and I love that, but they are a B*TCH to make! This would be my third? attempt since we do not speak of the first attempt at Daicon, and I think it's my best to date!
THE WIG: This wig was originally a party-city-shiny purple kanekalon number. I was pretty disappointed in the color, so I sharpie dyed over it with some dark blue. I LOVE the way it turned out. I had three people ask if it was my real hair... I WISH my real hair dyed that well, lol. It's just pulled back and pinned up loosely with bobby pins, a very simple style.
EARS: Same as the Daicon ears, however, a new headband was used--covered in bridal satin. Since I have magically learned about what the bias and grain of a fabric are REALLY about, it made it much easier to sew it on without a lot of bunching or anything nasty.
THE SUIT: This was made with magic of the Sadira-pookie variety. She looked at me and sh*t out a pattern in ugly tiger broadcloth, I sewed it together and tweaked it, then cut it out of lining and casa satin. I had to keep tightening it to keep it formfitting, so many of my friends got to stick pins in me at varying intervals. This wasn't as hard as Daicon since Luca is the same cup size as me and I didn't have to exaggerate my boobs. This was really comfortable once I got everything figured out... but... my lifelong love of casa satin died as it was not strong enough to hold up to bunny suitage and it frayed drastically at the seams with normal wear. I would like to remake this out of bridal satin.
TIGHTS: Same as Daicon, I AM CHEAP (read: poor.) I wanted to get different ones but had no time. The sketch is in purple and white, so I had a lot of creative liberties here.
COLLAR/CUFFS: Same as Daicon, I just made a new bow tie and different buttons on the cuffs.
SHOES: Black high heels instead of blue! Win!
PROP: I don't know why she was carrying a top hat full of roses, but I piled up a vine of roses from Joann's on a sheet of foamie and sewed it on the edges. I left an open slit so I could reach in and out for my cel phone and camera. Nice.
